(Blackfalds, Alta.) – The Blackfalds Bulldogs have acquired goaltender Matthew Hennessey (’02) from the Bonnyville Pontiacs (AJHL) in exchange for defenseman, Kaiden Bugera (’04) and forward, Kobe Assam (’03).

Hennessey (Warman, SK) is entering his third season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) after spending the last two campaigns with the Pontiacs. The 20-year-old is an established starting goaltender and can be described as a ‘workhorse’ capable of playing significant minutes.

Bulldogs assistant GM, Adam West, is excited about what Hennessey will bring between the pipes this upcoming season.

“Matthew is a proven starting goalie in our league who will provide us with consistent solid play in net,” explained West. “We really like how athletic he is and how he battles hard for every puck.”

Hennessey appeared in 40 games for Bonnyville in 2021-22 picking up a (26-5-6) record with a 2.64 goals-against-average (GAA) and a .914 save-percentage (Sv%), including 4 shutouts.
