Bulldogs acquire (F) Bill Gourgon from Centennials

(Blackfalds, Alta) – The Blackfalds Bulldogs have acquired (F) Bill Gourgon from the Merritt Centennials in exchange for (F) Brandon Sacchetti.

Sacchetti (‘02) was originally acquired by Blackfalds in an earlier trade with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons that saw defenseman, Kaiden Ellertson, dealt to the MOB. Sacchetti was then immediately dealt to the Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) in exchange for Gourgon.

The 19-year-old (‘03) played his 2021-22 season with the Carleton Place Canadians of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). He had a strong season offensively, but was ultimately moved to the Surrey Eagles (BCHL) during the offseason and then swiftly to the Centennials in late June, before being acquired by the Bulldogs this week.

According to Head of Hockey Operations, Al Parada, this was a player the Bulldogs’ staff have had an eye on for a while now and they are excited to bring him into the fold.

“Gourgon is a very high-skilled forward who brings speed and scoring ability to the lineup. We are very excited to welcome Bill to the Bulldogs this season,” Parada expressed.

Gourgon appeared in 38 games for the Canadians last season, registering 12 goals, 25 assists, 37 points with 128 penalty minutes during that span.
