2024-2025 Season Awards
The Blackfalds Bulldogs handed out the end-of-season awards following the last home game of the season on Saturday, March 22nd. 13 awards were handed out that night with the Kody Willick Award being presented on Friday, March 7th pre-game.
This award is named after former Blackfalds Bulldogs Captain Kody Willick, who embodies passion and leadership with his great work ethic and determination on and off the ice. This award is presented to a Blackfalds Bulldogs individual whose selflessness, dedicated efforts, excellent work ethic and outstanding contributions have made a significant difference in our brand and community. Bulldogs Owner and President of Hockey Operations Doug Quinn presented the award to Kevin Strybosch, Director of Business Operations – Bulldogs Training Centre.
The first award handed out during the award presentation was the Fan Favourite. It is determined by a combination of a fan vote, interactions of players content on social media, and player code ticket sales. Bulldogs Director of Community Relations & Partnerships, Michelle Brown, presented the award to Luke Dahlen and Kirill Kapustin.
The second award was the Collicutt Energy Most Improved Player. It goes to the player who has developed the most from the beginning of the season. Wyatt and Katarina Meier presented the award to Luke Norcross, who scored 7 goals and 19 points in 33 games with the Bulldogs this season. He had appeared in 6 games with the Sherwood Park Crusaders before being acquired by the Bulldogs.
The third award was the Vise Energy Top Defenceman. It goes to the defensive player who performed at the highest level all season. Mike Tubbs and Kyle Drouin presented the award to Alex Bosland, who scored 1 goal and 13 points in 32 games with the Bulldogs. He had four assists in twenty three games with Coquitlam before being picked up by the Bulldogs.
The fourth award was the Reid and Wright Advertising Top Forward. It goes to the forward who performed at the highest level all season. Shannon Labranche presented the award to Luke Dahlen, who scored 13 goals and 29 points in 54 games with the Bulldogs this season.
The fifth award was the Blackfalds Bulldogs Foundation Community Hero. It goes to the player that exudes community passion while maintaining excellence in being a team member and attending school. Bulldogs Co-Owner and Vice President of Business Operations Jodie Quinn presented the award to Liam O’Keeffe.
The sixth award was the Career Assistance Network Best GPA Award. It goes to the player who has the best academic Grade Point Average of the year. Aaron Sheppard and Ashton Selig presented the award to Luke Norcross.
The seventh award was the BiziSul Volunteer of the Year. Ryan and Thomas Brown presented the award to Kerry Lightbown and Greg Bennett who have been with the Bulldogs since day one and volunteering for every game working the time or penalty box and recording stats.
The eighth award was the Evolution Inspections Teammate of the Year. It goes to the greatest teammate on and off the ice who contributes to their team and community. Remy Wattie and Hunter Cuell presented the award to Jared Langdon.
The ninth award was the RDI Rookie of the Year. It goes to the player who performed at the highest level in their first season of BCHL hockey. Trevor and Ella Leinweber presented the award to Nicholas DiPaolo and Jason Davenport. DiPaolo scored 6 goals and 15 points in 23 games with the Bulldogs this season and a total of 11 goals and 24 points in 45 games including an additional 22 games played with the Sherwood Park Crusaders earlier this season. Davenport scored 3 goals and 8 points in 25 games with the Bulldogs and a total of 5 goals and 12 points in 53 games including an additional twenty eight games played between the West Kelowna Warriors and Powell River Kings earlier this season.
The tenth award was the Milano For Men Scoring Leader. It goes to the player who scored the most points this season. Ajoy Joseph presented the award to Joey Melo who scored 17 goals and 39 points in 42 games this season.
The eleventh award was the Q2 Artificial Lift Systems Working Champion Award. It goes to the player who takes initiative to better themselves by exploring employment opportunities and gaining experience for their future, having balance by giving 100% as a team member and employee. Bulldogs Owner and President of Hockey Operations Doug Quinn presented the award to Joey Melo.
The twelfth award was the Western Wallprinting Most Valuable Player. It goes to the player who performed at the highest level all season. Peter Friestadt presented the award to Joey Melo.
The thirteenth and final award was the Owners Award for Heart and Hustle. It goes to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of hard work, hustle, and determination. Bulldogs Owners Doug and Jodie Quinn presented the award to Luke Dahlen.
