Bulldogs Sign Raivis Strazdins

The Blackfalds Bulldogs are pleased to announce the signing of 2005-born forward, Raivis Strazdins.

The Riga, Latvia product played for Fehérvár Hockey Academy 19’s U21 team where he had 9 goals and 15 points in 7 games in the Hungarian Junior (U21) league, which led his team. He had 3 goals and 8 points in 9 playoff games to help his team win the Hungarian Championship.

Strazdins played in 22 games in the Austrian U20i league where he led his team in scoring with 21 goals and 42 points.

He also played in 16 Erste Liga games where he put up 4 goals and 2 assists.

Strazdins stands at six-foot-four and weighs 185 pounds.

Bulldogs’ Director of Hockey Operations, Al Parada, said, “Raivis is a player who has size and skill and has been playing at a very high level over in Europe. We are expecting Raivis to be able to step in and contribute right away and give us some extra depth in our forward group.”

Strazdins stated, “I’m feeling really good, excited about the season, and I’m going to try to do my best for this organization.”

Parada added, “I look forward to getting Raivis over to Canada and seeing him in a Bulldogs jersey this coming season.”
