Hunter Brown Commits to York University

The Blackfalds Bulldogs are proud to announce the commitment of Hunter Brown to play USports hockey at York University.

Brown was acquired from the Spruce Grove Saints in September of 2023 before the AJHL Showcase. He had an immediate impact scoring 2 goals and 4 points in his first game as a Bulldog. In 63 games with Blackfalds, the Fort St. John, B.C. product scored 18 goals and 54 points while adding a goal in 4 playoff games.

Brown was thrilled with the commitment, “It feels amazing to commit to York, it has always been a goal of mine to play University hockey and I couldn’t be happier going to such a professional program such as York.”

Bulldogs Head Coach Doug Quinn said, “I’m excited Hunter is getting the opportunity to continue his career at York University and I wish him all the best. He was a great player and an even better person. The Bulldog organization will miss him!”

Quinn mentioned he had wanted Brown on his team for a while, “Hunter was a player we identified and pursued for at least 2 years and we were very excited when he finally joined the Bulldogs. He was a very strong player and played in all situations.”

The Bulldogs’ Top Forward award winner enjoyed his season in Blackfalds, “My time in Blackfalds was an unbelievable experience, from day one the boys took me in and made me feel like I was right at home. I couldn’t be happier finishing off my junior career with a great bunch of guys and coaches.”

Quinn added, “Hunter was one of the hardest workers on the team and made the players around him better. He was a strong leader and very popular with his teammates and everyone wanted Hunter to play on their line.”

Bulldogs Director of Hockey Operations, Al Parada, echoed Quinn’s sentiments, “Hunter has worked extremely hard to get to this point and it is well deserved. Hunter was an integral part of our team moving into the BCHL this past season and he was not just a leader on the ice but off the ice as well with our younger group of players.”

Parada continued, “I wish Hunter the best of luck moving forward with his educational and hockey journey and look forward to watching him with York next season.”

“I would like to thank all my coaches, teammates, friends, and especially my family and billet families for helping me pursue my hockey goal stated Brown.

The entire Bulldogs organization would like to congratulate Hunter and his family on his commitment and wish him the best of luck at York University!
