Bulldogs Acquire Doell
(Blackfalds, AB) The Blackfalds Bulldogs have acquired 2003-born forward Holden Doell from the Battlefords North Stars of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) in exchange for Future Considerations.
Doell scored 100 points (33 goals, 67 assists) in 49 regular season games last season for Battlefords. In the playoffs, Doell scored 20 points in 13 games en route to an SJHL championship.
Bulldogs Director of Hockey Operations, Al Parada, says that Doell has all the tools to be an impact player.
“Holden is a dynamic top scorer and playmaker in the CJHL, he was a player who led his team to an SJHL Championship last season and was a big part of why they won,” said Parada. “Fans should expect a highly skilled player to step in and make a big impact this season with the Bulldogs and create some excitement on the ice for them to watch.”
Doell himself expressed his excitement at joining the Bulldogs.
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Blackfalds area, obviously the rink is one of the nicest rinks around so I’m excited to get down there and see it in person,” said Doell. “I feel the Bulldogs have been building a team and culture that players want to be a part of since they first came into the league so I’m just happy to be a part of it this next year.”
Following their SJHL championship, Doell’s North Stars impressed at the Centennial Cup, making it all the way to the final before falling short to the Brooks Bandits. Doell finished tied for third in tournament scoring with eight points.
“Going on a run like we did last year helped me learn what it takes to win, and I feel like I can bring that experience to Blackfalds,” said Doell. “Obviously the Bulldogs had a really good year last season but I’m hoping to help them make the next step and win a championship.”
“I think Holden is a perfect fit with our forward group as we have a few other Saskatchewan players on our team he already knows,” said Parada, when asked how he thinks Doell will mesh with the Bulldogs forward core. “Losing some major pieces this off-season… both Holden and (Edward Moskowitz) are going to be expected to come in and fill some of those holes this season.”
The Bulldogs would like to welcome Holden Doell and his family to the organization.
