Both Blackfalds and Whitecourt came into Saturday night’s game sitting on six points each. Whitecourt hadn’t played in the Showcase yet, whereas Blackfalds played Grande Prairie Friday night. After twenty minutes, you couldn’t tell that the Bulldogs hadn’t had a day off, as they outplayed, outshot, and outscored the Wolverines going into the first intermission.

In the second, the Wolverines’ found momentum and although Blackfalds scored the first goal of the period, the rest of the second was all Whitecourt. The Wolverines erased the two-goal deficit to tie the game going into the third period.

Blackfalds came to play in the third. Tyler Wallace, Tyler Teasdale, and Jayden Joly would all score third-period goals, with Wallace scoring two, as Blackfalds ran away with the game by the end, beating Whitecourt 6-2.

Blackfalds improves to 4-2-0 on the season, winning their third straight regular season tilt and finishing their AJHL Showcase having won both of their games. After a four-game home stand in which Blackfalds went 3-1-0, the Bulldogs go on the road for three games starting Tuesday in Drumheller and ending in Bonnyville on Saturday, with a Friday night stop in Fort McMurray in between. Blackfalds’ next home game is a matinee on Monday, October 10th, against the Camrose Kodiaks, a team that, as of right now, is one of just two currently ahead of the Bulldogs in the AJHL South Division standings.
