Bulldogs Acquire Trent LeDrew

The Blackfalds Bulldogs have acquired 2005-born defenceman Trent LeDrew from the Brockville Braves in exchange for Future Considerations.

LeDrew started the 2023-24 season with the Wisconsin Windigo of the NAHL, posting two goals and eight points in 18 games thus far. Blackfalds acquired LeDrew’s CJHL playing rights in October from Brockville, and are pleased with LeDrew’s decision to play in the AJHL. Bulldogs Director of Hockey Operations Al Parada says LeDrew helps Blackfalds complete a defence core that can compete with anyone in the league. Parada went on to say that he was extremely impressed with what he saw in LeDrew’s game.

“He looked like a responsible defenceman who can play both ends of the ice and play in all situations,” said Parada. “He also has a good hockey IQ and very good puck skills and skating ability for a big guy.”

“I like to play a two-way game and bring the physicality on the back end,” said LeDrew, when asked about how he plays the game “I love to activate in the play and produce offensively but at the same time lock down the D zone.”

Last season in the CCHL, LeDrew posted eight goals and 33 points in 55 games, good enough for third on Brockville in point scoring. Parada says that the addition of LeDrew gives the Bulldogs an excellent group of eight defencemen moving forward.

“I believe with Trent joining our back end we now have an even stronger defence core, and a group that can compete with anyone in the league no matter who is playing in the line-up on any given night,” said Parada.

LeDrew himself was thrilled with the opportunity to come to Blackfalds.

“Blackfalds as an organization is incredible. They prioritize taking care and improving their players to make them the best they can possibly be,” said LeDrew. “On top of that the community is amazing and the fans are super supportive.”

The entire Bulldogs organization is thrilled to welcome Trent and his family to Blackfalds!
