Bulldogs add two players

The Blackfalds Bulldogs have added two new players to their roster.

The Bulldogs acquired 2002-born defenceman Tyler Bates from the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

Bates has recorded 12 points in 24 games this season with the Crusaders. The Calgary, AB product spent the previous two seasons with the Brooks Bandits in the AJHL.

“Bates is a very mobile defender with an offensive upside,” said Bulldogs Assistant GM Adam West. “He is committed to Colorado College for the 2023-24 season.”

In a separate move, Blackfalds signed 2001-born forward Deegan Mofford. The Rocky Mountain House, AB product has split the 2021-22 season with the Merritt Centennials in the BCHL and the Rocky Rams in the HJHL. In four games with the Rams, Mofford tallied seven points.

“Mofford played for our coaches in the U18 ranks,” said West. “He had a quick stint with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets. He has split his junior career between the West Kelowna Warriors and the Merritt Centennials. He’s a big body – physical, power forward and possesses a big shot.”

Meantime, the Bulldogs are back in action Friday night in Sherwood Park when they meet the Crusaders for the first time this season.

Blackfalds is back on home ice Saturday when they host the Calgary Canucks at the Eagle Builders Centre.
