Dustin’s hockey passion started in Red Deer Minor Hockey, where he grew through the system and eventually helped the U18AAA team win a bronze medal at the National Championships. A late bloomer, Dustin played with the Olds Grizzlys of the AJHL for two seasons before making a move to the WHL with his hometown Red Deer Rebels. After signing a contract in the ECHL, Dustin decided to pursue his business degree (and continue playing hockey) at the University of Lethbridge. He played five seasons in the CIS with the Lethbridge Pronghorns, where he was team captain for 3 years and had the opportunity to play for Team Canada at the World University Games in China. After getting married to his high school sweetheart Ashley, they moved back to Red Deer to establish their careers and start a family (where they currently reside and are raising their wonderful daughter). Dustin worked for Hockey Alberta in Elite Programming for the last seven years and is excited for the opportunity to now work in the league where his hockey career first started. Red Deer has always been home for Dustin and his passions center around sports, the outdoors and community involvement. Dustin and his friends organize an annual weekend golf getaway called "The Chubbs" (a Happy Gilmore reference) for the past 7 years, raising over $30,000 for local charities. Most recently, Dustin and 3 friends started a community-minded comedy podcast called “OH Deer”. Dustin is very excited to help integrate the Blackfalds Bulldogs into the Central Alberta Community.
